You are entitled to a redundancy payment once you have been over 2 years with your company.
The minimum payment or statutory redundancy is calculated as follows:
.5 week’s salary per full year worked while under 22,
1 week’s salary per year worked while aged between 22 and 41;
1.5 week’s salary for each year over 41.
The maximum number of weeks allowed is 20 weeks and the maximum per week is capped at £525. £15,750 is the maximum statutory redundancy.
Enhanced redundancy is where employers pay more than the statutory minimum. Your employment contract will show how much notice you receive and you will be paid for any untaken holidays. Any further payments or ex-gratia payments are at the discretion of the employer and normally tax free once below £30,000, these are at the employer’s discretion.
